WOYWW 217

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

It's that time of the week when we romp about the world peeking at other crafty desks.  This fun and frivolity is courtesy of the lovey Ms. Julia at Stamping Ground.  Be sure to pop over there and check it out!

Here's the state of my desk today:

Not horrible, but nothing terribly productive or creative.  Getting ready for some bottle cap projects (hence the basket full of regular and flattened caps).  I've never worked with them, but I have visions of cute magnets and jewelry.

The little turquoise milk crate is holding some new beads that just arrived to be sold in online auctions and in my Etsy store.  (email me if you want to know more about the online auctions) Still need to count and sort, which always takes forever.  I'm waiting for a shipment of resealable plastic baggies.  I have the kind with the sticky strip on them, but I get so tired of chasing the little pieces of film that you tear off to expose the adhesive.  Lazy, yes.  I'll admit it.

By the way, if you like the little milk crate, I got it at Wal Mart for 97 cents in the school supply section.  They had several bright/neon colors of them (orange, lime green, yellow, turquoise).  I may have to go back for more.  The stack nicely on top of each other IF you don't over stuff them like I have a tendency to!

How about a freebie on Friday?

Happy Friday Everyone!

Gift card holders are always handy to have.  I think it really adds that personal touch to an otherwise non-personal present.

I ran across this pattern somewhere last year and I'm so sorry I can't remember where.  I always like to give credit for a project whenever possible.  I originally made Christmas themed versions of them with a lot of layers of designer series paper.  I thought they came out very nice.

I recently decided to make some all occasion style ones to list in my Etsy store and decided to simplify them.  I used single sided card stock from various paper stacks that had some nice heft to them.

When you open it up, there's still a nice place on the upper flap for someone to write a personal  message to the recipient.

These are super fast to make this way without all the layering.  As an added bonus, they fit perfectly in a regular greeting card envelope, so mailing them is a breeze.

Here's the scoop on making these and your freebie for the day!

Card stock:  7 3/4" X 5"
Score at 2 1/2" and 6" on the long side.
Secure side edges of flap with your choice of adhesive (I used red liner tape)

Designer Series Paper Layers:
Outside:  2 1/4" x 4 3/4"
Small Flap:  1 1/2" x 4 3/4"
To/From Panel:  2 1/4" x 4 3/4"

Belly Band:
1'' x 8 1/2"

I then used a combination of various scallop and circle punches with a stamped design to jazz up the belly band.

Enjoy!  If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or email me!

WOYWW 213 and Absentee Blogging

I've been at it again.  Being an absentee blogger, that is.  I shall reprimand myself with lashes from the infamous wet noodle!

From Millan.Net

For those that may have forgotten, WOYWW stands for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Hosted by the lovely Julia of Stamping Ground, we get to take a romp around the internet and visit other crafty spaces.

Mine isn't looking overly horrible today, but it could certainly look better!

A little of this, a little of that, and quite a few things that need to find their "spots."

And what about those earrings laying there?  Well, that's my newest project.  Ever since I started making jewelry, I've felt pangs of guilt about neglecting my beloved paper crafting.  Well, I may have just stumbled on a way to combine the two!

Voila!

The "medallion" portion of these earrings is made from three layers of coordinating SU designer series paper.  I glued them together with Scotch quick dry adhesive for a good, strong bond, and then covered them front and back with several coats of matte Mod Podge to seal and protect them.  It also helped stiffen them up a bit as well.  I'm really pleased with how they turned out.  Minimal jewelry parts (jump rings and crackle beads) finish them off.  I foresee making more of these for sure!

Be sure to pop over to Stamping Ground and visit the other creative folks who are sharing their work spaces!
