Index Card A Day 2016

Happy Monday Everyone!

Have you heard about ICAD??  That stands for Index Card A Day and is a fun art challenge during the months of June and July from Tammy at Daisy Yellow Art.  Be sure you pop over there and check out all the details.  Basically there are daily prompts you can follow, or weekly themes, or you can get all wild and crazy and do your own thing!  The point is to be dedicated to doing a little bit of art everyday on an index card.  I'm falling a bit short in the dedication department, and I'm still behind.  But I am having fun with it, and honestly, that's the main thing.  I've decided not to stress myself out trying to play catch up.  I did that with the first two weeks and didn't have a lot of fun.  So now I'm picking out prompts that jump out at me and having fun with my little cards!

Week One Cards

Week Two Cards

If  you'd like to see my process videos for these two creative sessions, I'll add them below.

So have you "arted" today??  I hope you will!!

Thanks for looking at my blog. I appreciate all the wonderful comments everyone leaves. Happy Crafting!

Pick A Stick Challenge - June 2016

Happy Friday Everyone!

It's time to reveal my art journal page for June's Pick A Stick Challenge.  Each month, we draw ten sticks from our stash of art prompts.  The "challenge" part is that you have to complete the steps in the order they are drawn.  Sometimes that is super tough, and this month was no exception!

I have found that if I gather up supplies to represent each step, a theme seems to take shape for me.  This month, step six is actually what brought it all together.  I found my "fashion element" in the form of a magazine clipping of a little pot of cream blush!  It's shape and color dictated my whole project.

I decided to use a lot of circles to mimic the shape of the blush pot, and also bring out the color of the blush.  I used accents of blues and aquas as well.

I thought the soda pop top images I had in my stash worked great.  They came from an issue of Country Living a few months ago.  Who knew there were so many fun vintage sodas?!?!

Below is a video I did on the entire process of creating this art journal page.  I hope you'll take a look.

Be sure to come over to our Facebook group page.  You'll see a ton of great projects that have been done, and I hope you'll decide to play along with us!

Tag It Tuesday Theme June 2016

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Today we announce the theme for June.  As many of you know, I've been focusing a lot on color themes this year, primarily taken from the spring Pantone colors.  This month is no different.  Our color for June is the super pretty, light aqua/blue called Limpet Shell.  Ok, where do they get those darn names?!?!?!

Since the word shell is in the name of the color, I couldn't help but also ask that you include something kind of "beachy" in your project as well. So think sand, sun and surf!
As always, use any size or style of tag you like and any medium you take a fancy to playing with. I always use a number 5 manilla shipping tag, but you can use whatever you want. Get creative and invite your friends to join us!
Don't forget that the "linky party" now takes place on our Facebook group page. Be sure to come over by clicking HERE and joining the fun. The June photo album is already up, so if you like, you can post photos of your completed tags there.
