My desk is fairly tidy today, as I've been cleaning and reorganizing my stuff in preparation for a large SU order that will be coming shortly. {excited clapping}
These five cards above are the ones I made from the 6 X 6 One Sheet Wonder I referenced last week.
Be sure you all visit Julia's Blog to see what is on everyone else's work desk today.
One of my five cards is being used for the Friday Mashup 43 challenge. It's a sketch challenge combined with using something new. My something new is the retired Spice Cake Designer Series Paper. I ordered two packs of it right before the mini occasions catalog expired, and this is the first time I've used it.
I realize now in looking back at the sketch, that I've left one small element out (the little "word window" to the right of the focal image). And honestly, I don't think I'll add it on since my focal image is right smack in the middle and I think adding something might throw the balance of the card off. I'll have to give that some thought! :)
I bent the blue strip up and down to give it some interest before mounting it on the card, but I see in the photos that I got carried away bending the left side! Oh well!
If you've read this far, kudos to you! A couple of questions for those of you out there that sell your cards (or whatever you make). 1 - Do you have a consignment contract that you use and would be willing to email me a copy of? 2 - What type of inventory system do you use? I am prepping to approach some local businesses to place my cards in. Naturally, I'll need to inventory everything I have and know what is in each location. I'm debating between some type of photo inventory, or a simple numbering system. I present my cards in cellophane envelopes and could place a little sticker on the back with a number. What do you think?
As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog and leaving your lovely comments! Have a great rest of the week!
Thanks for looking at my blog. I appreciate all the wonderful comments everyone leaves. Happy Stamping!
I really like the clean look of your card. Thanks for joining us for the Friday Mashup!
ReplyDeleteNice cards, and looking neat in preparation..who doesn't like a big order!
ReplyDeleteI don't sells adds anymore, but used to have a handful of baskets in local office receptions. Didn't complicate it with inventory...made cards as the mood took me, sold them all at t he same price. Went back weekly to refresh and collect money, and each second week I removed unfolds and tried different cards. Biggest tip is not to be offended when certain cards don't sell...you are never going to be able to meet every taste or criteria! Good luck!
Me again, to correct the auto corrects , iPad and blogger don't get on, so correcting them in the embedded comment box is almost impossible!
ReplyDeleteFor 'unfolds' I mean un solds. I charged the same price to make it easy on the girl who was on reception, she didn't have to write anything down,just collect the money. And I always let her have her choices for free. A bit different if you're selling to shops, but try to keep it simple....if the shopkeeper gets extra work out of it,they won't be keen!!
Beautiful cards, love the colour combo, I have joined you as a follower so I can visit your lovely blog again in the near future, Hugs May x x x x Happy WOYWW
ReplyDeleteThe shops I'm in don't have "contracts" but you pay them a certain percentage for each card sold, they collect the money and then they take out their percentage and give you a check for what is then due you. Each shop differs but the concept is the same, just keep a written tally so you know how many cards a shop has, their percentage and plenty to restock from. waving hi from the hills of NC :)
ReplyDeleteReally pretty make using our sketch. Love the bright cheery look to your card. Great work on making all the others too!
