WOYWW 242 / Mastering a New Tool

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

It's that time of week again when we get to indulge in our voyeuristic tendencies!  Now, now....not what you're thinking!  We're going to take a peek at other crafty desks around the globe, of course!  This is all courtesy of Julia at Stamping Ground.  Make sure you pop over there and check it out.

This picture represents two things.  One - that I am capable of cleaning off my work table!  And two - that one of my goals over the next few days is to figure out how to use my Bind-It-All.

Have you ever thought you just really NEEDED a new crafty tool?  Thought that you just couldn't LIVE without it?  Then when you got it finally, you didn't even use it???  GASP!!!!!  Well, that's what happened with me and my little pink B-I-A.  I had been wanting one for months and months and finally scored a deal at one of those "daily deals" site.  I was sooooo excited.  Sadly, that was ages ago and I've never even used this little cutie!

I hereby vow to learn to use this machine and put it to good use in 2014!!

Do you have a binding system?  If so, which one and how do you like it?  Please comment below and feel free to leave me advice on using the Bind-It-All!!

On another note, do you remember the new Copic Sketch markers that I got for Christmas?  I thought you might like to see what I did with some of my learning experiments.  I turned them into cute little 3 X 3 cards.  Love them!

The Secret Life of a Bead Supplier

Happy Saturday Everyone!

I hope you are having a marvelous weekend!  I'm finishing up some odds and ends from that massive order of beads I got in recently.

When I first started selling jewelry supplies, someone advised me to not de-string the beads before selling them.  I followed this policy for quite awhile.  Recently, however, I've started de-stringing everything and checking the beads over before bagging up and listing for sale.  Whoever says that selling online is simple never sorted a bazillion strings of beads!

Here's a prime example why I now choose to de-string:

Out of 20 strings of beads, this is how many sets of "twins" I had left.  That's a lot of unusable beads.

If you've never experienced "bead twins," this is when sets of beads are stuck together, rendering them pretty much useless.  I always try to pry them apart.  Just ask my poor old thumb nail!

Is doing all this time consuming?  Yes.  Is it tedious?  You bet.  Why do I do  it?  Because I don't want my customers to experience the disappointment of receiving bead twins in their orders.

The finished product!  Bagged and inspected beads, ready for sale!  This makes for happy customers who leave positive feedback and shop with me again.  That's what customer service is about.

These are a girl's best friend when it comes to sorting and counting out lots of beads.  Just sayin' ......

By the way, if you're interested in buying some of the beads shown, please check out my shop by clicking on the tab above that says "Shop At The Supply Garden."

Buried in Beads / WOYWW 240

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

It's time for our journey to have a look-see at other creative desks around the world, courtesy of Julia at Stamping Ground.  Be sure to pop over there and check it out!

I received a big shipment of new beads (and other stuff) Monday.  Consequently, not only is my work desk covered in beads, but pretty much so is the rest of my room.  And my dining room table.  Oh dear!

Man, do I need to vacuum!!

I've been frantically taking photos, editing said photos, and making listings in my store on The Craft Star.  I'm one of the featured sellers tonight on the live sales show.  Maybe you could come!  Each seller will have a special discount coupon to share with viewers.  It's a lot of fun!  Go here to RSVP.

Don't forget to visit Stamping Ground and see all the other fun desks!

Coloring Up The New Year and WOYWW 239

Happy Wednesday and Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!

How was your New Year's Eve??  We actually stayed up past midnight only because it's senseless to go to bed before the bulk of the fireworks are done being shot off in our neighborhoods.  I dream of living somewhere that fireworks are illegal!!  It was rather entertaining this year, however, with the new dog, Brandy.  After years of having two dogs who are dreadfully afraid and one who couldn't care less about the fireworks, in walks Brandy......all 14 pounds of red and white Boston Terrier ferociousness!  We thought perhaps she would also be scared of the fireworks, but NO!  Every time one went off, she went flying out the doggy door barking her head off.  What a silly girl!

Well, what about this WOYWW thing in the blog title?  Each week we have the opportunity to bounce around the web and take a look at other creative desks.  This is all courtesy of the lovely Julia at Stamping Ground.  Be sure you pop over there and have a look!

I should preface my desk picture by telling you what I got for Christmas.  My wonderful husband told me to order some Copic markers that I've been coveting wanting forever it seems.  So I found some decent prices at oozak.com.  For the ones they were out of stock on, I went over to markerpop.com and got them.  I tried to find color combos I liked that would coordinate with all the Stampin' Up stuff I have.  Boy, all those color comparison charts out there have quite a bit of variation.  It made my head hurt trying to decide what to start with.  I ended up with 33 sketch markers.

Here's the state of my desk when I walked away from it last night.  Just playing with some Valentine's images, since that's the next holiday on the horizon.  I figured if these first attempts turned out nice, I could morph them into tags or little ATC sized cards.

Not too bad, but learning the blending might have been easier on larger images!

So as I prepare to "Color Up The New Year" with my new Copic collection, what are you planning for 2014?  Whatever it is, I wish you blessings and bountiful happiness!
