WOYWW 245 and Copic Marker Storage

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

It's time for our weekly trip visiting other creative desks around the world wide web courtesy of Julia at Stamping Ground.  Be sure you bebop over there and check it out!

Nothing crafty on my desk at the moment, however you should have seen it yesterday!  It was covered with all sorts of jewelry making paraphernalia!  Ooo, that's a fun word!

Today, however, it's more sedate.  I am new to the world of Copic marker owners, and I'm getting ready to order a few more markers.  So I drug out all of my information, charts and other notes to decide what new colors I want to order.
Hopefully I'll be coloring in more blocks on my chart pretty soon!

I've looked at lots of storage solutions that people have for their Copics.  Since I plan to keep adding to my collection, albeit slowly, I was looking for something expandable and cheap budget-friendly!  I already had this little Sterlite three draw mini unit below.  It was housing most of the adhesives I use on a regular basis.  Well, it turns out that the drawers are the perfect size for markers!  So I relocated the adhesives so the markers could move in.  Knowing these units are still made, I thought this was the perfect solution, as I could simply add additional sets of drawers as needed.  I was at my least favorite store in the world the other day (read Wal Mart) and picked up a set.  Well, imagine my surprise when taking these pictures to find out that the construction of these units has changed over time and my two sets of drawers will not lock together!  Drat!

See below how the tops are different?  The older one is on the left, and the unit I just purchased is on the right.  There is no way they will stay securely stacked together.  Good thing they aren't expensive so I can just pick up another set when I'm at Wal Mart.  I guess the older set will be relocated and repurposed somewhere in my craft room!

Anyway, I think I've narrowed my Copic order down to 20 new markers.  It's so hard to figure out which ones to buy.  I thought about being even more frugal and order the Ciao's instead of the Sketch style, but I just don't think I would like not having the numbers/names on the ends of the markers.  So I will pay a little more and get the Sketch style.

Please leave a comment and let me know if you use Copics, what style, and how you store them.

Thanks for looking at my blog. I appreciate all the wonderful comments everyone leaves. Happy Crafting!

  1. Congats on getting on the bandwagon of Copics! I LOVE all of my markers and always want more! You are making a great investment. As for storage, I store all my markers in a Craftsman tool tote. It's durable, pink and I got it for less than $10...can beat that combo! As for storage, I have both of those Sterilite storage drawers, I actually have both of those styles you have. I think in passing, I've seen the "older" version at Target. As far I know, they still make them because I've seen them in passing. They come in different colors depending on the season.

  2. That's the curse if the ever changing product, I guess. Bad luck! But I bet you'll find another use for the older version!
So you're a jewellery maker, huh...I'd like to see some of that as I muck around with beads and findings too occasionally :-)

  3. I actually bit the bullet and bought that tote bag they make for them copic, because, sometimes I take mine to work to color in between hurry up and wait periods. it's actually a really nice ( well made ) bag.you know you dont have to store these on their sides like water based markers right? ( just an odd thought)

  4. Oh dear, Sheri. The difficulty of adding to things we already have... trust you will be able to sort it all - and enjoy all your new colours!!

  5. Hi Sheri,
I know what you mean about the big box store. I have two sets of the plastic drawers on wheels and love them. Glad your Copics fit in nicely. I haven't gotten into the Copic frenzy as they are out of my price range (that and I have so many other supplies that I haven't tried yet).

    Happy WOYWW

  6. @Sheri I have recently bought COPIC Ciao Markers - Sets of 72 from Jerrysartarama's online store and also bought the "Space Bureau" a deep drawer to store them which is very specious and easy to use.
I love organizing my art supplies. :)
