Twelve Days of Christmas - Day Two

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Today is the second installment in my Twelve Days of Christmas video series.  This time, we're making a super simple gift box called the 2-4-6-8 Box.  You can dress these up as little or as much as you like, or even leave them open at the top.  It's all up to you.

The smaller of my two boxes is made from a piece of patterned cardstock that is 6" x 8 1/2".  Score along the long side at 2", 4", 6" and 8" -- thus the name of the box.  Score on the short side at 2".  Fold and burnish on all score lines.  (The larger box is made from an 8 1/2" square.)

Cut on the 2-4-6-8 scores up to where they intersect with the 2" score line.  These little flaps will make the bottom of your box.  Be sure to remove the small 1/2" section along the bottom.

NOTE - If you want to punch a decorate edge like is shown on the red box, you need to make a 1" light score line or pencil line along the top edge.  You will then cut away the 1/2" section, the 2" section next to it, skip the next section, and then cut away the third 2" section.  This will leave the front and back sections so you can use a decorative punch on them.

Apply adhesive to the bottom flaps and the 1/2" strip.  Adhere bottom of box and tuck the 1/2" piece inside the box.  Burnish with a bone folder to make sure you have a good connection on the adhesive pieces.  Push in the sides at the top to close the box and decorate as desired!
