Countdown to World Card Making Day - Day 5

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Thanks for following along as we count down to World Card Making Day.  I wasn't sure what I was going to share today, so I started digging through my stash of already stamped and colored items early this morning.  I came across a pretty little flower image I had previously done in some of my favorite colors.

I decided to keep the layout clean and simple and let the image and background papers do all the work.

I resisted the urge to add a sentiment panel or bow on top of the sheer ribbon strip.  I even had a big bow tied, untied, knotted, etc., and finally trashed the whole thing!  Instead, I opted for three simple rhinestones to anchor the edge of the ribbon.

Countdown to World Card Making Day - Day 4

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Thanks for following along on my countdown to World Card Making Day.  Today's card was a fun experiment for me!

I have tons of glossy white card stock.  I don't know why.  I rarely use it.  But it makes a wonderful canvas for cool backgrounds using ink and sponges, and that's exactly what I've done.  I thought this was be a super cool way to highlight this awesome Halloween witch stamp.

I used quite a few colors to get this fun background.....So Saffron, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy (all Stampin' Up colors).  I also added some fun orange and yellow buttons that I bought from my friend Rebecca St Pierre on Tophatter.  I thought the card needed something else, as I didn't want to trim down the background.

I also gave the inside some "love" with some spooky cobwebs and greeting.

Countdown to World Card Making Day - Day 3

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I'm sharing a fun little project that is a card and gift all in one!

Some sweet little water colored flowers and a couple of touches of bling just for fun!

This card comes complete with its own matching bookmark.  This is also a lovely way to show off your two-sided papers with the fold up flap/pocket.

Countdown to World Card Making Day - Day 2

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Today I'm posting card #2 in my countdown to World Card Making Day on October 6th.  This is also a "Throwback Thursday" kind of card as well.

When thinking about what I wanted to showcase today, I was thinking about different folds on cards.  I'm not really adventurous where fancy folds are concerned....a simple gatefold is about the extent of my creativity!  But I remembered a card I used to do years (make that decades) ago in workshops involving very simple folding.

Here's the original card.  Anyone remember this ancient Stampin' Up set??  It's another one I sold and should have kept.  Why is it hindsight is always 20/20??

For my updated version, I amped the colors up a little bit and used more modern, fun images in my stamping.  Yes, this is Flower Fest that I also used on yesterday's card.  The little corner flowers are from "Every Little Bit."

I call this style of card a "top mount" card, in that the base is only a quarter sheet of card stock, and the card itself is trimmed down 1/4" all the way around, folded in half and adhered to the colored base.

This is supposed to give the illusion of being a bouquet of flowers tied up and peeking out of their wrapper.  The "wrapping" is stamped with a sweet little image from the set Confetti.

I stamped the flowers with Regal Rose and then gave them some additional water coloring to boost their presence so they would "pop" from the background.  Cute, huh?!?

WOYWW 173 / Countdown to World Card Making Day

Happy Wednesday Everyone.

It's time for a mid-week romp across creative desks around the blogosphere.  Of course, this internet fun fest is courtesy of Julia at Stamping Ground.  Be sure you pop over there, grab a comfy chair and beverage of choice, and have a look-see!

The work in progress here is featured below, and is the kick off card for my ten day countdown to World Card Making Day on October 6th!

I'm challenging myself to bring you ten new card projects in a row leading up to October 6th.  I'm going to try new techniques, new layouts, new color combinations and new themes.  I challenge you to play along with me.  I don't have a schedule to follow, other than posting a new card each of the next ten days.  Won't you join me?

This card features the "Triple Time" technique as published by Dawn Olchefske.  I've been wanting to use this idea for quite some time and finally made myself follow through!  What do you think?

The leaf and floral image is from the retired Stampin' Up set "Flower Fest."  The thank you sentiment is from "Lacy & Lovely."  The main colors I used were Certainly Celery and Melon Mambo.  The twine from The Twinery (Honeydew and Pink Sorbet) provided the perfect accent between layers.  The butterfly was colored with markers (Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight) and jazzed up with a few pearls.

All in all, this was a fairly simple project, which makes it rank high on my list!

Halloween Mini Album

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today I'm sharing with you a Halloween themed mini scrapbook I recently made.  This album was made exclusively with the Top Note die for both pages and covers.  This was made with the Recollections "Night and Fall" stack.  Such fun images and glittery details to boot!

As is my usual style, I kept the embellishments fairly minimal.  I know it's all the rage to have these over-the-top super embellished books that are about a half mile thick.  But I feel like that can detract from the memories you are trying to save in these little albums.  So as you'll see, I add just a few things here and there.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Mini Scrapbook

Happy Thursday Everyone!

I realize when looking at my last few posts, that I never did share close up pics of the two Fall/Halloween mini's I had been working on.  So here we go!!

This one was made with toilet paper tubes for the inside pages and the covers are made with the Top Note die.  Each page inside was wrapped to create a pocket, and each pocket holds two small tags for journaling or photos/memorabilia.  Each page then also has a pull-out tag from the inside with ribbon pulls.

I made another nearly identical album, but switched up the cover a bit.  The interior was almost a complete repeat of the above one, so I won't bore you with those pictures!

Come back tomorrow and I'll show you the Halloween themed one I made!

Absentee Blog Owner!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I am a bad blogger lately.  I've gone from blogging several times a week to almost nonexistent.  Shame.On.Me!!!

You all know I love paper crafting and rubber stamping.  But recently, I've decided to try my hand at jewelry making.  I'm just learning some simple stuff, and a couple of friends kindly donated some starter supplies for me.  It's good to network!  lol

Here's a look at a few of the earrings I've made.

These two pairs I've already sold on Tophatter.  I was so excited!  (You should check out Tophatter if you haven't already.  It's an online auction site--very addictive, and one of the main reasons I've been an absentee blogger!!)

And I'm having fun with buttons as well.  The pink pair I'm keeping, as I used some vintage pink buttons that were given to me by my grandma.  Sentimental, for sure!!

Here we are a little later and nearing completion of both minis.

Two Pocket Treat Holder

Happy Monday Everyone!  Happy Labor Day!

Last Wednesday as I shared a picture of my work desk, many of you commented that you wanted to see close up pictures of the Halloween treat pouches I made.  Well, I would S.W.E.A.R. that I took pictures of them before I took them to the craft mall, but I'll be darned if I can find them anywhere on my camera or computer!  Go figure!

So, I took the picture of my desk and cropped the treat pouches out for you.  Hopefully you can get an idea of what they look like.  Sorry for the punch sitting right in front of them!!

And  (drum roll please)....................
I made two new ones for you to look at!
